Leak detection is important to avoid damage and unnecessary costs. It is therefore recommended that you have a specialist come and survey the problem. Our team of skilled tradesmen can detect leaks in any type of pipework as well as main lines that lead into a property. We can also detect leaks in roofs, brickwork and around window frames.

From thermal imaging to tracer gas surveys, we use non destructive equipment to locate the problem precisely.

What is Nitrogen Hydrogen tracer gas?

Just as the name suggests, nitrogen hydrogen tracer gas is a leak detection solution compromised of these two elements. This technique is a non-invasive method that uses a mixture of hydrogen (5%) and nitrogen (95%). While the use of these elements may seem intimidating, they are indeed safe to use and is highly effective when it comes to locating the source of a water leak.

How does tracer gas leak detection work?

This very popular method of leak detection works by injecting tracer gas into the pipeline with a suspected leak. The gas will seep out of the pipe and rise to the surface where gas-sensitive probes will detect it. With Hydrogen being the smallest and lightest molecule, it is permeable, meaning it can easily move through building materials such as concrete, asphalt, block paving and grass, rising fast to the surface at 5% in a nitrogen balance. The gas is harmless, leaving no trace or deposit in the pipes or on any nearby materials.

With over 20 years’ experience in the plumbing and drainage industry, our engineers are fully equipped with the necessary skills and tools to carry out a thorough and precise leak detection investigation. Once we have found the source of your leak, we will quickly get to repairing it and will ensure the repairs are long lasting.
